Conference overview
Lifestyle Medicine 2024 took place from Thursday 25 to Saturday 27 July 2024 in Adelaide, Australia, as part of the Essential Health Summit. The conference focused on the central theme of: EMPOWERING LIFESTYLE MEDICINE: UNLEASHING PASSION, PRACTICE, AND PROSPERITY.
The Essential Health Summit combined the Lifestyle Medicine 2024 conference with the Australian Primary Health Care Nurses Association’s (APNA) Festival of Nursing, offering three days of dynamic presentations, interactive workshops, and inspiring talks. The Summit also hosted the inaugural Primary Health Care Congress, which brought together leaders from across the primary health care sector.
Lifestyle Medicine addresses the root causes of disease with evidence-based lifestyle behaviours including exercise, diet, sleep, social connectivity and stress management. Compared to most other medicines, it is relatively inexpensive, widely accessible, safe, and free of all but good side effects. As such, it is well placed to improve health outcomes among marginalised and disadvantaged communities.
